The Basilica of the Mission San Buenaventura is a Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.The Order of Friars Minor founded the church in Ventura, California, as a Spanish mission, making it the ninth Spanish mission built in California. Junipero Serra was the head of the Franciscan missions in California when he established this mission, which was one of many locally designated landmarks in Ventura. 2. Emma Wood State Beach

The United States Bureau of Reclamation built Lake Casitas in 1959 as a storage reservoir for drinking water and irrigation water. The facility is used for both drinking and irrigation water. Flood control is only one of the multiple advantages obtained from the project. It has hosted canoeing and rowing at the Summer Olympics since 1984. Coyote Creek meets the Ventura River two miles before it meets Lake Casitas. The lake is fed by Santa Ana Creek and the North Fork of Coyote Creek. Because the impounded watershed is insufficient to fill the lake, the system was designed to redirect water from the Ventura River into a canal under particular conditions.
